Oh, l'art nouveauUn litUn cabinetUne armoire

J’aime l’art nouveau beaucoup.

Coffee - iPhone and Lensbaby

This is my 2,000th photo on Flickr! Well, I have photos and a few videos.

This shot was taken with an iPhone and a Muse Lensbaby®, which is a very nice lens if you like art photography. Since the iPhone lens is smaller than the Lensbaby, there is a black circle that serves as vignette in this photo. Is it possible to obtain a clear image with this combination? Yes, but I like this bokeh-out-of-focus feel better.

My Broken 3GS iPhone :(

My old 3GS iPhone is no more. It died a few days ago. I have now an iPhone 4. It's faster, the battery is better, but there is no doubt that some photography apps render nicer images with the 3GS.
My iPhone 3GS has died, long live the "old" iPhone.

A minimalist photo of a bird. I was about to start driving when I saw this bird. I got out of the car and snapped this photo. :)

Farouk's House of India Buffet

One of my favorite restaurants in Richmond is Farouk's House of India. It's a very small restaurant in Carytown. My husband loves this place so much that he could eat there every day.

Failed Postcard: The US Capitol

How many times have you been in a great location and taken a photo that later you discover didn't come out the way you imagined?
Maybe not that many times if you have used a digital camera or a cameraphone. Well, even with a digital or mobile camera you make mistakes, but there is always a way to fix them. Photoshop and all those mobile apps including Instagram can always make a failed photo look just fine.

But if you use film and have only a few seconds to set a toy camera, you may end up with a so-so photo. Still, the analog camera provides a good way to produce memories. If the photo is not perfect, it's still a starting conversation piece.

Now, add to the toy camera a film that is treated with household agents and food ingredients, and the fact that you have no idea what the result will be. Then you have a serendipitous image that you can laugh at or display on social media.

And that's what this photo is: a failed shot at an important building with a toy camera, loaded with a roll of film treated with a sort of Aztec chocolate.
I'm not laughing at the US Capitol. I love this building! And I have taken several photos from the same spot with different cameras and different times of the year. Instead of throwing away this image, I decided to share it and describe the process that made it a failure.

A Kiss

Our two cats, Van Helsing (left) and Bela Lugosi (right), usually fight a lot. But some times they also seem to kiss each other.
